It is completely normal to put things off. Sometimes a task is unappealing and we don’t want to do it right away.

For me it’s vacuuming. It only takes 15 minutes, but for some reason it builds up in my mind like the dust bunnies under my desk.

But procrastinating has its limits, and at a certain point, can have a detrimental effect on your day-to-day life.

A couple of additional notes: 1) I mentioned a fun study in the piece about Torontonians and tax-procrastinating… here it is. 2) I couldn’t get into this in the story, but apparently the research shows that most chronic procrastinators grew up in a controlling environment… usually had a parent who was a taskmaster. Procrastinating is apparently a form of subconscious rebellion.

Now, I am off to vacuum… or maybe I should make some lunch… or maybe I should watch that old clip from “Perfect Strangers” on youtube my friend sent me…. or…
